Holy Carrot
Innovative plant-based meals with global inspirations.
On the move
Formerly situated in Knightsbridge, Holy Carrot is an ethical vegan eatery that is now temporarily based at Battersea Power Station ahead of the opening of a new plant-based restaurant in Notting Hill in early 2024. Despite being in the process of relocating, the mission of founder Irina Linovich remains the same: to shift people’s perceptions of vegan food by serving up dishes that are so delicious, they can’t be overlooked.
Global influences
As part of their desire to create excellent vegan dishes, the team at Holy Carrot has taken inspirations from all over the globe, whether it be for the indulgent miso butter that can be tried as a flavour with their Oyster Mushroom Wings, or the spicy gochujang glaze that comes drizzled over their Sexy Tofu. What’s more, everything is made using fresh, local ingredients and without the addition of refined sugars, preservatives or additives. Gluten-free options are also available, with seasonal produce used wherever possible so that the food at Holy Carrot is both healthy and mindfully made.
Sweet treats
If you want something to satisfy your sweet tooth, their extensive dessert menu has you covered. It contains traditional options including Sicilian Lemon Tart and Bramley Apple Pie alongside more unusual choices such as Miso Caramel Sponge Cake, while the Holy Cheese Board provides a range of dairy-free cheeses to tantalise your taste buds.
Holy cocktails
The permanent restaurant also has a wide array of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to choose from at the innovative Holy Bar. This stylish addition features skilled mixologists bringing together a plethora of natural ingredients to produce heavenly cocktails served alongside flavoursome vegan snacks such as Tofish & Chips and Holy Maki. Based on a tarot card theme, they have enticing names like The Devil and The Magician and are made with intriguing flavour combinations so you’ll want to try them all.
Spreading the word
While fans of the first Holy Carrot setup will have to wait a few more months until they can sit in the warm atmosphere of the restaurant once more, the Battersea food truck offers them the chance to continue enjoying wonderful vegan food in the meantime. Holy Carrot’s movement around the capital may help to broaden their reach, bringing new customers into the restaurant once it opens in Notting Hill and ensuring that even more people get to enjoy their incredible plant-based meals.

- EmilyIt’s alright- the ambiance was lovely but there was much left to be desired beyond that. The food was alright but I have definitely tasted better… It took an age for our food to arrive (we saw people who came after us and order after us, get served before us). On the plus side, after complaining, we were given a complimentary side dish (but also nothing to write home about- so much so, that for the life of me, I don’t remember what it was- the gesture is what made me rate it as a 3). The food was overpriced for the portion size (and the taste). When I mentioned that to our waiter- he replied in his Italian accent that “because the food is vegan” 😂😂(he quickly divulged that he was not vegan). Drinks were ok but also nothing special. All in all, I don’t think I’ll go out of my way to come back. So much potential but was well below my expectations. A bit of a downer for a birthday dinner but never mind, there are plenty of great vegan spots in London- this is just not one of them…
- M NA wonderful hidden gem in the heart of Knightsbridge. A vegan lovers paradise. We tried the vegan: crispy sushi, calamari, buttermilk chicken and tofu. Each dish was a great ode to its meaty alternative. We loved the Asian flavours and would order each one of the dishes again. My personal favourite was the martini cocktail and the buttermilk oyster mushroom chicken! I’m normally a meat eater, but could easily convert if I had these meals every day. The venue was busy and the set up of the restaurant felt like a transitory area. The bright lights also didn’t help you relax. We visit for a pre-theatre meal, and were quickly sat and served. The tables were slightly too small for the number of dishes we ordered. I more relaxing ambience and staff would have made this an exceptional visit. A great venue for a quick bite after a tiring shopping spree.
- Ali KeenThis is some of the best vegan food I have had. Beautifully presented, complex and wonderful flavours, and the general vibe of the place was great. The service was good, but I have only given it 4 stars for service as I think they could have done with at least one more member of staff as it sometimes took a while to get their attention. One server was especially good, but unfortunately I didn't get his name.
- Julia JakubiakIn one word: Amazing. We were quite worried after having read that the dishes were bland, but I couldn’t disagree more. The sexy tofu is the best tofu I have ever eaten. I really liked the maki set as well. And the desserts are a cherry on top, we had the meringue and the apple crumble and they were both divine! The drinks are also great, we had the magician, the devil, the star and the hermit - my favorite was the devil but they are all really nice. The place is beautiful and the staff is attentive and gives great recommendations. We had an absolutely delightful time.
- Xanadu Ti TreeWe visited here for brunch and we’re not disappointed! The dishes, both lunch and breakfast, weee super tasty!! We came away very pleased and full up. The sexy tofu is super delicious and so make room for dessert! The restaurant itself is nicely appointed also!
