En Root was founded by Nish and Harsh just after they had finished studying at university. These two friends shared a passion for vegan food and community building which led them to establish their first shop in 2016 on the multicultural streets of south London. Over the years since they began, they have brought their Indian fusion cuisine to festivals and other events via a colourful mobile food truck. They have also expanded to other parts of London through their Clapham and Peckham restaurants, where the wholesome plant-based menu is based on Gujarati spices, with a mix of warming dishes inspired by international food traditions. They even sell a range of En Root hot sauces made with scotch bonnets so they are flavoursome but also fiery. Everything is done with sustainability in mind, from the corn starch cutlery to the biodegradable bioplastic, making their operation kind to the environment as well.

- No Harm In TryingFri, 17 Feb 2023 22:19What a great little gem this is, a straight forward five-minute walk from Clapham North tube station. The modestly sized cafe evokes bohemian vibes, fusing India and Jamaica, as instrumental jazz provides an audible backdrop to the dining experience. We encountered the owner who additionally played chef and waiter when we visited on a weekday for lunch - very friendly and keen to impress. The dishes ordered arrived in good time and met the standard for good café food of a unique indo-carribbean variety. Every dish seems to be unique and hit the spot in filling a hungry belly. I'll be coming back to taste the para-tacos. This place is absolutely worth a try, especially considering the very few entirely-vegan places that exist south of the river.
- T CSat, 3 Dec 2022 21:37Came here as had a vegan visitor in town. Interesting menu, lots of variety. Good portion sizes. Enjoyed the Tandoori Wings, my meat eating partner said they tasted like meat. Very good service. Nice ambiance for a small restaurant.
