- Kenyatta MillerHands down the best Vegan restaurant I have ever had. Everything I get here never misses. Always tastes phenomenal. I always feel good after eating a nice wholesome meal from here. I have a "happy" tummy 😂 but all in all my go to place all the time and so happy she has changed her hours so people can catch more of the cooking and desserts. My favorite cupcakes are the sweet potato and the lemon cupcakes. Just so fresh and good. Favorite thing to eat is the Jamaica Kincaid tacos and the oyster mushroom tacos! The Spicy Chikn Sandwich is great as well. Thank you Sweet Art! I will be back for more! 😋🌻🥰
- Sara GoveroWow! That strawberry cupcake icing was the lightest and best icing I’ve ever had. Sweetart Bakeshop in the Shaw Neighborhood of St. Louis is a funky, unique vibe, blending artistry with amazing vegan treats. This colorful spot doubles as a functioning art studio, with paintings and writings adorning the walls. It was so busy and we loved the buzz! The commitment to vegan delights is evident in their offerings, and the gluten-free options, like the strawberry cupcake, chocolate chip cookie, and brownie, is proof of their creativity – you'd never guess they're gluten-free or vegan. Chef Reine Keis has created a haven for plant-based indulgence since launching SweetArt in 2008, making it a beloved spot in the St. Louis vegan dining scene. Whether you're seeking lunch, brunch, or just a dessert-only experience like us, check out SweetArt Bakeshop.
- Dan BNon-vegan here that loved everything I had. Great breading on the crispy fried cauliflower and chkn. Hard to tell it wasn’t real chicken. Dessert bar not pictured since I ate it too quickly. Highly recommended at least grabbing some baked goods.
- Joshua GreySweetArt is a master of carefully crafted vegan comfort food. And the motivational messages from black female artists and activists that decorates the restaurant creates an environment of care and comfort equal to its gourmet level food. But it's these deserving compliments that made our weekend experience there oddly discomforting and left us with a sour taste. On our most recent visit (we are regular customers) we were greeted by a new digital menu. It was missing many long time staples so I asked the employee, "Is this your new menu?" He mockingly responded, "No. That's our old menu. Yeah, that menu is like like twenty years old." My wife and I did not react and finished ordering. As we enjoyed our always tasty treats, I thought to myself, "I'm not certain the customer is always right, but I have no doubt they should always be respected." After all, even faithful vegans now have multiple options where they can eat, including several nearby. And no one wants to pay for any product that also comes with a dose of disrespect, even a small one. As we left I further wondered if the young man I interacted with had bothered to inquire further about these dynamic woman beyond their quotes on the wall. I suspect he has not. If he had, then perhaps he'd have learned from their writings what each of these women expressed through their inherent collective empathy; that there is a never a good reason to treat a random stranger with anything but decency, kindness, and respect. I look forward to editing or removing this review once I know the necessary training has been implemented that will once again allow SweetArt to live up to the full potential that its comfort food and ambiance implies, but currently fails to fully deliver.
- JWAbsolutely delicious food! We had the nachos( which were huge, filling and very tasty) along with cauliflower bites. I would recommend the the maple mustard sauce with those. I tried the buffalo sauce and it was very spicy and I normally don’t say that. Lol! The finale was the sweet potato cupcake!! Omg! That was THE BEST cupcake (vegan or non vegan) that I’ve ever had! Sweet moist and delicious. I ate one and had to go back and get two more to take home with me. It was that good. Great vibe, great service, lots of inspirational quotes all over the walls. I highly recommend!
