L’Embuscade is an Afro-vegan bar and restaurant established by manager Patrick Ossie and chef Phoebe Dunn in early 2020 following an experimental event in Paris’ charming yet vibrant Pigalle district. Fuelled by its success and inspired by their combined Afro-European heritage, they began permanently offering Dunn’s distinctive fusion of authentic African cuisine and vegan culture. Her exotic plant-based versions of traditional dishes from across the continent are filled with nutritious ingredients sourced from local and organic suppliers where possible. The rich menu includes diverse sharing plates, indulgent bowls and tasty desserts accompanied by an invigorating selection of inventive handcrafted cocktails. Together with the African-inspired décor, dynamic Afro-Caribbean tunes and late-night live music events, this makes dining at L’Embuscade a deliciously unique experience.

- Thiziri Belbreathtaking food. insane playlist. kind staff. 10/10 would 100% recommend. the vibes are one of a kind, the cocktails are delicious and original.
- Lull MengeshaI was fed twice tonight! By the food and the people. The food was incredible, unique and was so wonderfully curated. The chef shared how she created items that she herself really enjoyed and it was clear by seeing many non-vegans enjoy the cuisine as well. I had three starters and a main dish that I shared and enjoyed the use of citrus in more of the heartier dishes. You will not be disappointed by your experience especially for those of the diaspora.
- S. P.Atmospheric place with a cozy, authentic Afro-vibe, decorated throughout with African art, with African music on the speakers, and with many patrons who are apparently African. The staff have exceptional manners and seem genuinely nice. We arrived when the restaurant was full, were explained the situation by the owner/manager, seated in the back while we waited for an open table, and given a complimentary drink. The waiter, when he arrived, kindly asked if we had any questions and recommended to us his favorite dishes, which we ordered, and were the best vegan food of our lives — colorful, bold, fresh, and with many zesty flavors.
- Roger HaakWe just left, and my wife and I cannot stop thinking about how wonderful and fantastic our experience was. I am overwhelmed. My heart is as full as my stomach. This is a must visit for anyone or any vegan who is traveling and visiting like we are. Out of every restaurant we've visited during our time in Paris, L'Embuscade was the best and my personal favorite. The food was phenomenal. The service was personal, kind, and forgiving (our French speaking skills need a lot of work, and they were beyond patient and helpful with us). We hope to go back before we fly out in a couple days. Again, this is a must visit vegan restaurant. Every dish is made with love here, and that's what makes a restaurant perfect. Thank you, L'Embuscade, for an unforgettable time! EDIT: Seeing some of these reviews that are anything less than glowing - come on! Get off your high horses.
- Fernanda CI loved this place! Great vegan menu! I would return there to taste all the dishes!
