Hien Dinh-Graf founded Chay Long to bring some good karma to the streets of Berlin. The restaurant was set up in 2017, a year after Hien had travelled through Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. Inspired by the things he had seen there, Hien created Chay Long to foster joy and happiness through plant-based food based on the traditions of Buddhist monastery kitchens and combined with modern cooking. All of their food is completely vegan as they want to show people the benefits of meat-free alternatives. Even the name reflects this – ‘chay’ means ‘meatless for life’ and long is the Chinese word for dragon, suggesting that eating vegan food will give you ‘the power of the dragon’. To this end, they have created a host of healthy Southeast Asian dishes full of incredible colours and flavours. They have even partnered with restaurants in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam to facilitate the exchange of ideas and recipes. As a result, Chay Long serves genuine cuisine from those countries, bringing a taste of the east to Berlin.

- The Savvy Me - Eco Chic EventsDuring our long stay in Berlin, we ate at here several times for lunch, early and late dinners. We loved how all the vegan and gluten-free options were so fresh and healthy. The staff was always pleasant and the atmosphere inviting. The decor with Buddha's and plants transported me to Southeast Asia. It actually felt like I was in Vietnam eating local dishes. The hot tea with fresh ginger was always a treat after meals and the warm sticky rice for dessert was yummy! Highly recommend it!
- Cansın PekşenMy absolute favorite!! It is a very special restaurant, everything is vegan so if you have friends or family members who would be interested to try something new in Berlin, I believe they will be grateful you take them here! It is only a bit pricier than your regular Asian restaurants but it is definitely worth it - the portions are also big. The food also comes quite fast, perfect choice if you're starving. The staff is very friendly and the place has a really good vibe around it.
- Zuleykha IbadIt was close to their closing hour. Despite that we tried to be very polite and leave on time. The lady that was working there was very rude and obviously was trying to kick us out. I didn’t manage to finish my food on time so i asked to take away. But for some reason they packed only the soup i was eating and not the salad that was left untouched.
- Kat KleinAll in all a great place for vegan Vietnamese food in Berlin. Kind service and cozy design. The “magic mushrooms” starter tasted wonderful! The summer rolls, Bun Bo Hue and the Phở were good. Personally I would have preferred a simpler Phở soup with less variety of ingredients. Prices are fair for the area.
- Yuthana JürgensmeierThis restaurant has outstanding vegan dishes. As a flexitarian I worked my way through the menu and was blown away. Do yourself a favour and try the "Solo Meal" and the Pyramid Dumpling!
