- Vegan BrianAnother 100% Vegan Chicago Restaurant! I would rate the food 3.5/5. Here’s my explanation and personal experience. I ordered the fully loaded deep dish. Reason for this? About 4-5 years ago, (before I turned vegan) I would visit Giordanos or Lou Malnati's Pizza for a deep dish. Now that I am 100% vegan since 4 years, those two restaurants are no longer an option for me. Thus, I searched for deep dish vegan pizza and found this here restaurant. The deep dish pizza tastes good! It is however not my number one favorite. It’s a good but not amazing out of the ordinary experience. (My opinion) Ranch dressing for dip: I did ask for extra ranch, the ranch however was was unfortunately 1/5. taste did not match original taste whatsoever and the dip itself was just fluid, way too much liquid. I also tried the caramel apple pie; 3/5 not my taste; very sticky and sweet. It was ok. Rating the service: the service was great, the staff was super friendly. Awesome exchange with convinced vegan staff. (partly) Atmosphere: I chose to take the food „to go“. For me, personally, the restaurant was not my style. Music was a little too loud and restaurant did not give me a comfortable quiet dining vibe, more of a bar vibe. Check out pictures and videos for better impression which reminds me; it would have been more helpful for me, if the menu would have had pictures for better visual evaluation of choices. Lastly! I Love that the vegan community is growing & I am grateful for just another vegan restaurant that wants to give us a good fast food experience. Take care & Bon Appetit! Ps! Just by the way; the reason for the spooky decoration was the Halloween season; I suppose.
- Geoff ChadseyCool gem of a place. Great bartender able to recommend delicious local beers to suit your taste. 12" deep dish loaded pizza too much for one person but looking forward to leftovers! Only visiting the city for a few days and wish I had stopped by sooner!
- Kayla MoodyI placed an order for pickup at Kitchen 17 and had a phenomenal experience with the customer service in person and over the phone. My order was ready when it was meant to be and was quick and easy to obtain. My ordered consisted of a deep dish pizza, cheese fries, and a pumpkin spice cake. Keeping in mind, I did order for takeout, I expected the quality to be a little less than what you may see dining in. However, the pizza I received was essentially inedible. It wasn’t cut all the way through and was total soup, so much so that the cheese & sauce would slide across the pizza if tilted for even a moment. The slice I managed to pry out of the pizza was goopy and tasted exactly like the pictured pizza looks, like soup on top of bread. This was my first vegan pizza experience in Chicago and I was so disappointed. Looking at other photos of their deep dish I’d like to believe I got an off pie, but for the price it’s hard to take another chance on it. The saving graces in this meal were the cheese fries and cake. I loved that the cheese was packaged separately from the fries, the fries were perfectly crispy and my only wish would be for a little more cheese. The cake was by far the best I’ve ever had, bar none. If I was rich I’d employ whoever makes that cake as my personal baker and I’d have a pastry with every meal. Two stars for great service and some great sides
- Kisira N HillDon’t get the nachos maybe? For some reason I got a container of chili, slightly hardened cheese, ranch, a box of lettuce mixed with tortilla chips (random right?) and the worlds absolute smallest container of pico de gallo??? Less about the fact they listed all these in the description and I ordered it but more on the “what is this combo of food” and “why so little pico de gallo/ salsa??” And “why this Spring Green lettuce on tortilla chips???” Otherwise alright!
- Kyra D.The atmosphere was really nice, they had games for you to play while you waited for your food which is always a plus. The downside to this place is that the food is a bit bland. I would describe it as classic bar food with a vegan twist. Overall, this place is good if you're planning on drinking but not worth choosing as a dinner destination.
