- Shaan SomaniThis place is a decent option for vegan foods. I didn't care for the fake meat and cheese on the nachos or al pastor taco. However, the egg and vegetable burrito was delicious. My friends also really liked their smoothies.
- Acid Man Productions L.L.C. “InNoSint”As a truck driver I travel for a living and as a musician I am around many different local goldmine’s all throughout the world. And I have never once came across a establishment such as Healthy Substance “The Vegan Side of Mexico”… the food is superior to most the atmosphere is engulfed in a authentic vibe, and the service is like being a part of the family, the kitchen is five star all in its self… just not a lot of parking. But hey. it’s Chicago “Take it Easy” on em
- Exploradora TTried the zucchini soup for the first time. It was delicious! The mini fajita burrito is good and one of my favorite snack foods.
- Mustafa HStopped by for Father’s Day with the family. We had the spacious and elegant dining area to ourselves. Everyone enjoyed the variety of dishes and there was very little waste. The juices and smoothies were amazing. We were happy to see the plant based desserts also available (and we saved them for later). Don’t miss the gallery for inspiration from famous people’s connection with the plant based movement. Highly recommended! We will definitely be returning. Thank you!!
- Ryan ReynoldsI love vegan restaurants and I absolutely love Mexican food. Mexican food is so versatile and easy to make many things vegan style. My favorite Mexican restaurant (in Indiana) which is close to home (in Illinois) knows to cook my food on a clean surface, whether a pan or grill. Most places cook vegetables right along with meats and pieces end up in my food a lot. So to eat at a vegan Mexican restaurant is just so enjoyable and I don't have to worry about that. My wife and I got the Burrito Carne Asada. I modified mine and removed the fake meat protein for more grilled vegetables. I stopped eating meat a long time ago and have no desire to try and replicate it. They were nice and hooked me up with a delicious vegetable burrito. The burritos were great. We both loved the chips! My wife was disappointed in the sour cream, said it had a strong coconut flavor, but liked that it appeared to be made in-house. The mac and cheese was a miss. It looked promising but ultimately lacked flavor. I don't miss meat but I do miss a couple of cheese dishes. It's hard to find good vegan mac and cheese. Brownies were tasty but on the dry side. I liked them. Service was all good. Staff was all very nice. Excellent food and appreciate helping with the modifications. Very nice to try a new Mexican place and not worry about how my food was prepared. Thank you!
