A Korean spot serving up vegetables in a cozy and traditional space. It's a no-shoes establishment where you get to sit on the floor and try a bunch of tasty vegetables. You get to rest your feet and leave feeling like you got a cultural experience with your dinner. Unfortunately, their food is hit or miss. Many of the appetizers we tried were average, if not just bad. The baby dumplings were flavorful but I didn't like the flavor palette. The pancake platter felt lacking (which I don't quite understand since kimchi pancakes don't even have meat in the first place.) The vermicelli noodle dish was bland. The mains were really tasty tho! We had the Mongolian hotpot and the spicy rice cakes. The hotpot stew was flavorful and the mushrooms were delicious. Overall, avoid the appetizers and get the mains. Perhaps give the rice bowl a try too, I noticed a lot of people had those! The service was a miss as well. Some of the staff didn't seem very friendly, almost giving off irritated energy... not too sure why.

The Korean Pure Veg Restaurant, provided a memorable experience during my first visit for Korean restaurant. The ambiance exuded tradition, enhancing the dining experience. Although, slightly pricey, the food was exceptional. Beautiful seating and welcoming staff made my birthday dinner very special. They offered me a complimentary dessert as it was my birthday. Thank you Hangawi for a wonderful experience!

As others have mentioned, the price is high but you really get what you pay for: high quality ingredients, delightful ambiance and wonderful staff. Every dish compliments the other in such a unifying way. Make sure to try one of their cocktails - refreshing and fitting to the cuisine.

Tried the fried and silken tofu cutlets in spicy chili and soy bean sauce. The chili indeed had a super spicy bite. Kale dumplings in tofu skin were tangy and had a good texture. The seasonal king of mushrooms had a distinct flavor. Yet, the food did not wow me - I wonder what I missed. The seating with your shoes off is a nice touch. The tables are set very close to each other. The staff would need to bend over the table/ you to pour water into your glass if you are sitting near the wall. The vegan Korean dining experience seemed unique. You will require a reservation.

We were pleasantly surprised that it was NYC Restaurant Week. We called and were able to get a reservation. The food was PHENOMENAL. My partner ate the chef’s suggested meal, but i relied on the reviews and chose the Spicy Baby Dumplings and the Spicy Mongolian Hot Pot. Both were fantastic. I could eat that every day! Our vegan desserts were out-of-this-world good, and better for us than dessert elsewhere. The staff was attentive and it was fun to be in a themed place. Our first time having Korean food, and i’m glad it was at one of the best vegetarian restaurants in NYC.
