- Victoria WaddellAdmire company developing & making their own “meats”. Cafe is dark cosy & artsy. Nice music & blocks out main road traffic noise. Larger folks & wheelchairs will have trouble sitting in as seating is tight! I’d consider significantly reducing the length of your long table to allow access to the window seat. Both slim people & we struggled & had to drag & push the table away. FOOD Shared a haggis, cheese & cranberry, and Mac cheese bacon Toastie. As the only sit-in customers we had food in under 10min. Both came piping hot! Good quantity of filling. Both on white bread which was VERY thin & really only acted as a vessel & crunch. Pasta cooked well but cheese flavour was extremely mild. Constantly felt like something was lacking in each bite. Haggis was moist with a little texture & bite but lacked spice. Cranberry sweetness overpowered what should have been the star of the show. Coffee was coffee. Diet cola tasted like proper cola. At £8-10 per sandwich I’d question if extras like free lemon water, dogs allowed & nice decor is enough to make up for definite lack of flavour. I so desperately wanted to love this place due to the fab review, and it has such potential BUT we eat for flavour and that was lacking. I will give it another go to see what the atmosphere, speed & food is like at a busier time.
- Evie RoseDelicious sandwiches (Tried the Reuben and Haggis melt) and nice relaxed atmosphere. Amazing selection of sweet treats too! Had the cookie and cookie dough, which I recommend. Will absolutely be coming back.
- Michelle SolomonHad a fabulous experience here with a superb tuna melt sandwich. They make their vegan meats in house and the tuna was spot on! I also got the Mac and cheese and it was great as well. I had an issue with my U.S. credit card getting processed and was on the phone with my bank, and the nicest employee ended up giving me a complimentary lemon cake slice for my stress. I enjoyed it later that day and it was sooooo good! Wow, they know what they are doing! They are not near the royal mile, but worth going out of your way to try it!
- Tillon a tour of Edinburgh, we had to make choices of places to eat at, and we are definitely glad we chose to keep this one on the list! very quiet and cosy, friendly and helpful staff, we loved it! I had the Reuben and my boyfriend had the Haggis Melt, they both were amazing! We were overjoyed to find so much good vegan comfort food in Edinburgh. Definitely worth it, and then worth going back to try out everything on the menu!
- Erik MarcusSome of the most affordable vegan food in Edinburgh, no doubt because it's on the edge of town where rents are cheaper. I reluctantly ordered the haggis sandwich because I felt obligated to be brave about trying a veganized version of the world's most repulsive meat product. It turned out to be phenomenal, and I now think it's the best item I've eaten from their menu. If you want a killer vegan sandwich for not much money FacePlant is the place for you.
